Annual AUS events

Kickstart

Kickstart is a week long orientation event for incoming first year Arts student to give them a taste of what life at UBC will be like. On the day, you will be assigned to your stARTup leaders and a sqaud. Each squad will link up and compete in a series of challenges around campus to win bragging right! Your leaders are there to give you the lowdown on university life: they’ll provide you with answers to all your essential questions (where the hottest Pokemon Go locations are , easiest courses to get an A in , how late Dominoes is open, etc.) and even share their own university experiences with you so that you can start the year equipped to succeed! There’ll be games, there’ll be prizes, there’ll be food, and you better start practicing your nae nae and dougie because there’ll be lots of dancing at the hotel too! This is going to be the first year event you will not want to miss!

Join us and see just how many unforgettable memories you can make in the space of 2 days.

Conference

The AUS Humanities and Social Sciences Conference is an annual one-day event where undergraduates are given the opportunity to present their research work within the discipline of Arts, relating to that year’s selected theme. Undergraduate students from any post-secondary institution are invited to present in a variety of mediums and formats. Stay tuned for the release of the AUS Humanities and Social Sciences Conference 2020 date!

The AUS acknowledges that the Humanities and Social Conference will be held on the unceded, traditional and occupied lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musquem) people. The AUS recognizes the privileges, benefits, and responsibilities of holding a conference on Musquem land. We take it upon ourselves to reflect critically on ongoing processes of colonization, as will be addressed student presentations, and throughout the conference proceedings.
